There are only 24 hours in a day. Your time is precious. Don’t waste it on unimportant tasks or unimportant people. Make lists of what you need to get done for the day and order them by placing the most important items first. Then, go through the list starting at the top, so if all else fails and you only get one item completed, it will have been the most important one.
The same goes for people. There will always be some clients/customers that are repeat customers, more amiable, and provide us with more work. Those are the people that need to be put at the top of your list. Do you have a not so great client/customer that sends you fifteen emails before you get a chance to respond? Learn to focus on the clients/customers that provide the most value to you and your business first and foremost. Then, circle back and deal with the troublesome clients.
Don’t allow yourself to get bogged down dealing with unimportant tasks or people before you accomplish what you need to accomplish. Focus on what is most important to your business and your happiness first.
